Looking for a nice pair of pruning loppers to give as a gift. Considering Stihl PL-40 and equivalent Vaca and Hickok since they're all USA made. The Vaca is available for less money. I'm guessing that either Vaca or Hickok is the OEM of the Stihl loppers since I don't think that Stihl actually makes their non-power tools. Yes, ARS and Felco are nice, but made in USA remains desirable if good quality.

Personally, I have some Finland made Fiskars that I like but that model is now made in China so not under consideration for the gift.

Your thoughts?

Is that Stihl actually made in the USA? I found a post here from a few years back showing USA cast into the hook blade, but Stihl's website just shows the side with "Stihl" cast into the cutting blade. I know their hand pruners are made by ARS.

Does anyone know where AM Leonard loppers are made?

Is Corona still U.S. made?

I don't know about loppers, but I have two of their folding saws that are made in Korea. They're both super nice, but don't assume all Corona is US made if that's your goal. The folding saws I have are 5+ years old, so it's not a recent development.

Edit: I have some Felco Swiss made loppers, and also some China made Fiskars. The Fiskars are heavier, but they cut every bit as good as the Felco.

The OP mentioned USA but since Felco is in reply, I always by default reach for my Felco 20, 21, 22 forged loopers versus everything ......

Not sure if its a regional, model or just random thing, but I got some new Fiskars L78 powergear loppers last autumn and they were made in Poland - ok not Finland - the quality was good and with the gear function they just love to chomp through think branches.
