Trench drain installation question

Finally! I am in the finishing stages of my garage, I bought a trench drain to put across the door, the instructions say to pour concrete around it 4" below and at least 6" all around. I feel like there is no way that a 12'-4"x6" block butted up against my floor is going to stay put after the frost hits. My garage is a slab so I don't think putting a footing in for the drain is a good idea either. I'm contemplating just putting the drain up against the floor and foaming it in place before packing gravel around it. Has anyone in the north put one of these in? http://www.lowes.com/pd_110877-676-864G_0__?productId=1119169

my neighbour has that same setup across his door.
here in Ontario over 4 feet of frost and a couple of years has moved it a little and he said he will dig it up this year and just regrade it and place it back. it does what it is suppose to do.
he just dug down about a foot and about a foot wide placed stone and screening in to create a base for it to sit on top of. its pretty much up against the slab of his shop.

I guess with proper drainage I should be all right, mine is actually going to be higher than the surrounding driveway because I have to drive up slightly into the garage.
