Sand? You don't mention the distances but pretty sure you could have been long done already with what you have...

Want a new bucket? Buy all the buckets, let us know what works out best for you.

Sand with a mini-ex would be easy. Perhaps not my first choice, but if the machine in sitting there already it makes sense. Those saying to rent a trencher, sure it would be faster, but when you add the trip to and from the rental the mini-ex would have the trench dug, and the conduit in place in the same amount of time.

This isn't done yet?

If I had the mini-ex and an appropriate bucket of what ever size I would be done instead of asking here and getting all sorts of invaluable information!

This. $500 and they will drop it off and pick it up.

I know you don't own it after that but get the lady some power. Whole job will cost $1000 but add triple that in increased home value.

Use what you have. We dug the main run for one conduit with the bigger mini and 2’ bucket cause it was easiest and fastest. Once we made corner and went between buildings we used the 1’ on the smaller mini due to constraints

Just get it done!

Agreed, use the bucket you already got. It's the same amount of work either way, and the end result will be the same.

How small is this machine that a 4" bucket is something? How wide is the boom? It'd imagine at least 8-10"? My little ZX40 has I think an 18 or 20" wide bucket, I wouldn't want much smaller.

I've dug trench for wires with a 4ft cleanout bucket before on a 330. Was all that was around and didn't matter if it was a foot or 10feet wide.

If you really need to not tear up a nice yard, a shovel will be the best way. Or directional drill.
