The people at TrickTools/VAn Sant were very helpful. One thing that really helped sway me was the importer of the Femi saws is a company called HE&M I checked the HE&M website they are a 'custom' builder of high volume automated saws. I first ran in to their saws over 40 years ago at a machine shop I worked at making high vacuum flanges. We would cut bars of stainless for flanges some up to 12" diameter. I have never run a better, more accurate saw in my life.

HE&M does not sell junk, the Femi saws are HE&M's only none-high volume saws.

The saw will be here Wednesday I will keep everyone posted on if it lives up to the quality I'm expecting.

^^ The odd part about the HE&M website is that I is plastered with "MADE IN USA" everywhere and makes no exception for the hem branded femi. Even looking at the sell sheet or the product specific page.

I know little of HE&M, so it is good to hear you have had some exposure to them and feel that the femi is a quality tool based on there relationship.

Thanks for sharing and good luck with the new tool.

They are awesome saws. Incredibly accurate and clean cutting. Both of them will cut steel slivers of onion-peel size at their max dimensions with ease. They are both made in Italy by Femi. Distribution in America comes from HE&M Saw. Service is very good.
If you look at a lot of steel distribution houses you will find these small saws (and Kama's) run as back-ups and to cut small rounds that arent worth chucking in the vice of a big Hyd-Mech or Amada production bandsaw.
The drawbacks would be speed (its still a small band) and the plastic cover/handle. I have had no issues with durability though. Tough little saws.

One of my biggest worries was if I need any parts will they have to come Italy. Turns out HE&M has most wearing parts in stock.

I had looked at the saw Eastwood sells, was quite a bit cheaper, but replacement parts seemed to be an issue. When you add in you have no idea who made the saw for Eastwood, they many change vendors and wind up not be able to get parts at all.

why would spend on little bandsaw $700+ when you could buy something like this for what you want to do cut multiple. you cant do multiple pieces at once that saw you need production saw

like this

http://www.grizzly.com/products/7-x-12-Metal-Cutting-Bandsaw/G0561

Don't have a space for it, plain a simple. I found a Johnson saw about that size local on Craigslist asking $300. Would be a great saw except I don't have the extra space. If I had the space I'd buy another Scotsman cold saw, but they take up too much space and $5000 is a bit out of what I want to spend on a saw.

Grizzly products don't impress me, neither do the cheap Harbor Freight saws.

One thing to understand it is MY MONEY being spent not yours. Think I should buy a Harbor Freight saw for under $200 buy it for me, because I'm sure it will be in the garbage can in a month.

Bought this little bad boy for my christmas present to myself...this is a sweet machine. HEM 160....

I have a DeWalt carbide chop saw and use it alot and have found it to be very accurate and useful. They are extremely noisy and messy though.

I wanted a good and accurate bandsaw for years...and came accross the Trick Tools site from comments made by people on this site...researched them and got this...

I would love to have a full size but just didn't have the space...as this photo shows...I have it on my plasma cutting table. I slide it out, lift it up...wheel it where I want and start cutting...

Never been impressed with that saw. Its not very accurate and the fit and finishes are second rate. He is getting a more accurate tool made to better specifications. If you have time someday check out the small Femi saws or the Kama's. Statements like this: if you know well made tools or had them you know what I am talking about while bashing Femi saws indicates to me you have probably never used one. Only the outer cover of the bandsaw is plastic. Everything else is cast. Check them out one day so you are in the know.

The Harbor Freight saw is junk. It works for what it is and what it costs, but it's still junk. There should be no comparison to the HF 4x6 and a Femi. If you've ever used both, it wouldn't even be a contest. Can't wait you see you get it set up. I've been eyeballing them for a while for a nice little mitering saw. Keep wavering back and forth between two models.

I had decided on the Femi 105ABS from Trick-Tools.com. The saw arrived Wednesday evening, so I unboxed it today and set it up. Took all if 15 minutes to run the blade in tightening it as is runs and installing the work stop. I set to work cutting base for a target I make, mild steel 1/2"x1" took 1:45 minute to cut one, while I did other things. Cut some axles 1/2" mild steel for the target taking 31 seconds.

The saw is super easy to use lift the saw up it locks, lift again it unlocks and lowers down. Has a shut off for when the cut is finished. The saw has a solid cast frame, metal blade covers. The saw is much lighter that my old Mikita abrasive saw. The saw cut have a very slight burr and the cut is very well finished. The saw also has a handle to pull down on like a miter saw if you don't want to use the auto feature.

The price was in my opinion a good value at $740 plus shipping.

I'm going to see if a friend of mine who does a lot of videos could do a video of the saw.

Awesome. I'm interested in whatever info you got on it. That's the one I've been looking at.

Thanks for the review, this is on my list. Looking to build a work bench and some targets. I picked up a 10 in gong that i need to build a stand for. Very happy to hear it worked out!

3Gun, thanks for your report on your Femi.

FWIW I picked up an HF 4x6 a few weeks ago. I figured at the price, how bad could it be?

Well, the particular one I got has the pivot drilled out of alignment so it will never cut straight and the blade guard interferes with the table so it can't cut all the way through a piece. You don't figure any of this out until you've assembled everything and are giving it a test run.

So: time to go to HF, wait for help, get it home, put it together, swear at it, search the interwebs for fixes, swear some more, take it apart, take it back to HF...

I'm already out the cost of the Femi 782XL just in time wasted and that's likely the saw I'll order once this particular hunk of HF junk is out of the garage.

Thumbs up for you guys who lucked into usable Chinese 4x6 saws, though. Obviously if you get a good one it's a great deal. I just don't have the time or interest in chasing down a good one now. Will report back in the future RE the Femi when I get it.

The Femi 782XL is only $499 at Trick-Tools, if you are making random cuts on tubing etc it's a great saw. I ran my 105ABS by the handle manually today cuts like a dream. I had looked at the Eastwood and General saws they were around $250 but both had reports not able to get replacement parts that broke early in use.

Ordered my Femi 782XL middle of the week 2 weeks ago. Arrived the following Monday. Unboxed, set up, tensioned the blade and ran in as suggested in the manual this morning. Accurate cuts immediately. Very happy with this purchase and the folks at Trick Tools could not have been nicer to deal with.

I'm glad for you, I was using my saw Friday building and repairing some targets and frames for a big match next weekend. It still working perfectly.
