This is the second time this has happened to me, so I thought I'd share and maybe save someone some trouble. My Stihl blower would start, but not rev up. Found wasps had built nests in the mufflers. Cleaned it out and it ran great. Hope this helps someone out, or maybe saves someone some money this season.

I always dump the gas at the end of the season. I'll empty the tank, then run it until it dies. Seems to work well.

I have seen carbon build up around the exhaust outlet in the head do that as well. But wasps in the muffler is always the first thing I check.

Got to love when animals interfer with the running of equipment. Have seen ants destroy the loom on a Cat C7

Don't leave Ethanol gas in equipment that is going to sit around for many months. To winterize everything I get a 5 gallon can of VP non ethanol and mix 2 stroke in it . All my saws and blowers etc make it through the winter without any problems starting.. Dump Ethanol gas out of two strokes after 3 months. Ethanol is the worst thing for small engines with carbs.

The first time I found it myself. This time, I kinda looked like an idiot. I took it in simply because it is still under warranty. And the guy found the nest. Didn't charge me anything, although he could have.

Definitely check the exhaust port next time you have the muffler off. I've picked up several freebies people were throwing away that were pretty much clogged!

There was a "Ricks Restoration" episode, where Rick was rebuilding a dirt bike for one of his racer friends, but the engine would not turn over. The head was removed(a two stroke), and the top of the piston and muffler were packed with nuts a squirrel was hording. After removing the nuts & some minor work, the bike fired up and ran good.

Knock on wood, the equipment I have seems to be running ok with premium gas(93 pump gas) and Stabil. The blower, pressure washer, mower and weed water all fire right up.

The last problem I had was due to a disintegrated air filter.. too much brake clean and air pressure from the compressor over the years I guess...

I always run my blower and trimmers out of gas at the end of the season. Otherwise I'll be tearing all the carbs apart and cleaning them out come spring.
I've found mufflers that had screens clogged with carbon causing issues, but have yet to find wasps in there!
