My brother and I have total access to land that once had a junkyard. We've been taking various sized electric motors and removing the copper windings. Last week I found this Trimo pipe wrench. It was filthy and terribly rusted with no parts moving. My brother let it soak for 3 days in a Coke and cider vinegar solution. Yes, I know original color was not red, but black. Patent date is 3-15-18 but could have been made anytime up to 1954.Can anyone give a more precise date?

check your patent date again

http://www.datamp.org/qsDate.php

site says March 15, 1918 was a Friday, and patents are only issued on Tuesdays. (who knew?)

only thing the patent number (or date) will tell you is when the patent was issued; it's not necessarily an indicator of when the item was actually made:

By 1935 they were marked Alloy with a small CroMol on the moveable jaw. It seems that yours would be earlier.
