Long time lurker... first time (almost) poster.
Moved into a new build house almost 2 years ago and we lucked out big time on getting a huge lot that allowed us to expand our garage to a oversized triple. Woo!! Wanted to grow it even bigger but costs kept it "reasonably" sized. Had to landscape, build a deck and get furniture so the garage has been pushed aside since then.... but the time is now.
After having 2 previous homes/garages I knew exactly what I wanted so we added:
- 2 floor drains.
- Gas rough in for heater.
- Extra ceiling height and high lift tracks on the triple stall (for future lift).
- Side mount Liftmaster o/h door openers (both of them cause why not).
- Tons of extra light fixture rough ins.
- Tons of extra electrical outlets (still not enough).
- Central vac rough in.
The final approved plan, almost 700ft2:
And during construction. Looked massive with nothing inside it haha.
And finally moved in. Dark and packed with junk all over the floors.
Summer time with a car outside:
And looking a lot tighter during winter when I have 4 cars, 3 extra sets of tires, a lawnmower and a ton of junk all crammed in it. 2 vehicles are parked for the winter months and we're still able to fit our Honda Fit and the Acura TLX (now RDX) with room to spare.
That last photos is probably a close representation of the crappy 60w bulb lighting levels.. the worst! And thats with a dozen 60w bulbs.
They installed the high lift o/h door tracks so tight to the ceiling (as per my request) that there is no space for a normal light bulbs or light fixture so we ended up purchasing 10 of these super slim LED panels from Costco. I have yet to install any of them as I want to get the drywall mudding cleaned up and everything painted first.
However in the meantime I upgraded all the crappy 60w bulbs to daylight 100w LED bulbs as a hold over till we get it painted and the LED panels installed... and holy **** what a difference. You can see the old 60w on the left and the new 100w on the right.
