Triple tap plug replacement?

Hey guys, looking for some net gurus or smart advice.

Simple enough problem, bought a Bayco cord reel used. Both my units have the female plug side cut off.

I would like to replace them with a triple tap.

Question: where can I find a replacement triple tap?

I know I could always salvage one off something else, or, do a single plug and then plug a triple tap on that. But both these require more money then I would like to invest.

So, can anybody find a replacement triple tap (new or used)?

Get yourself a surface mount 4" square box and a cover for 2 duplex outlets along with 2 high quality outlets and a cord clamp. Put it all together and wire it up. The best thing is that it's easily repairable.

I've done that in the past. It works best if you use a square box that is pressed from one piece (so the back side has rounded corners).

But even with that, and the cover that does not overlap the sides, they're still all metal on the outside. Now if somebody made a rubber boot that fit over this, it could be awesome.

Oh, and consider using a decora cover, and fitting one of the two outlets as a GFI (with the other feed off of it).

Definitely use a box. You will have four outlets. All parts will be easily to replace. You could spray the back with rubberized under coating. Clean, prep, maybe put a few layers, if you wanted a rubber coating.

Indestructible, have been using one for over 30 years. Been run over, burned you name it. Expensive versus a metal box but it will outlive most cord reels:

Good idea with the outlet box. A little clunkier then I was hoping but def a good solution.

And Mooky, that box is kickass.....but at $60 shipped maybe not for this project.

I thought this thread was going to be about replacing the plug tap out of a 3 tap set, you know: plug, taper, bottoming.

I have never seen a do it yourself triple tap - box is the only option I know of.
Been using a steel box on the end of a couple extensions for quite a few years - works fine.

I remember reading about OSHA not allowing replacement triple taps. I have cut one off a HF trip tap and spliced it in with heavy duty heat shrink

Just posted this in the Hot Deals section. I am now a true fan of Daniel Woodhead products, amazing stuff really. Lots of GJ appeal, totally overbuilt for most.

I ended up getting a used DW 2 sided duplex box for $15 off ebay. Its awesome.
