Troubleshooting a Woodburner (pyrography)

I'm reaching out the brain trust of GJ.

This is 8 years old and the manufacturer is no longer in business. It isnt working anymore but with a nice smack to the unit it sometimes heats up again. My knowledge for troubleshooting this is very limited. Can anyone offer suggestions on what and how to check? Also where I might find a new power transformer? (if thats what it needs?)

Look all the solder joints over with a magnifying glass. If smacking it makes it work it is probably a cracked solder joint that just needs to be reflowed.

May well just be the connection that the hand piece plugs into, since bumping it around helps it get going. That connection is likely only a few volts, so a good connection is critical.

It looks prety simple. A rotory switch and a transformer. If your handy im sure you can figure it out. We cant really diag electrical problems like this via the internet.

This was exactly it!!! A loose connection that I had to heat up and reconnect.
