Hello, new guy here. I have been having issues with a couple of DCG418s. This is the description I provided when filing a support request via Dewalt's website.
"I have two of these and this one is the newer, cleaner and less used of the two. The other gets used in much tougher conditions and is still going strong. The problematic grinder is pulsing and not running at a steady RPM. It is like the speed control or brake are acting up. It is doing this with brand new flapper wheels, cutoff discs and no tooling at all. Please advise on what I need to do to get this resolved.
They responded to my inquiry and directed me to a service center (1 hr away) or online repair. Either is going to cost $ due to the note in the reply. "Regarding your concern, Upon further checking, your DCG418B is covered with a Three-Year Limited Warranty. One year of |free service for wear and tear, and the 3-year limited warranty covers defective parts."
The first started having problems about a year ago, when it was just over a year old. The second is now starting to exhibit the same issue. They don't get used that much. I am using them for wire brushing, cutting and grinding on some steel fabrication I am doing.
I have also had several 60v batteries die prematurely and now have a circular saw starting to have speed/switch issues and it looks brand new with very little use. I have many thousands ******* in Dewalt tools, batteries, chargers and can say I am starting to question this investment.
Sorry for the venting. In my searching online, this is the closes thread to what I am seeing with the DCG418 grinders. All I am finding are reviews (great for new grinder) and for sale (ebay...) links. I actually had to go freespoke.com search to find this thread. Google, duckduckgo were not even showing this thread in the multiple pages I scrolled through.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
