Troubleshooting garage door

Calling garage techs: got my garage painted and not my door won’t close via opener. It opens just fine but on the way down it stops and goes back up. I checked the sensors, checked the rollers-little more resistance.

Anything else I should look over? They didn’t touch garage door hardware when painting.

Sometimes the sensors just vibrate out of alignment, and need a jiggle. You might try some glass cleaner on the eyes. I've seen a single strand of silk throw them off.

could you have splashed a drop of paint, or would that be a bitt of paint ( LOL) on the sensors?

also, on the way down, can you grab the door & put some downwards pressure to help , if it's an alignment issue that should help it go down . if it's a sensor issue, it should still reverse

Mine has the rubber flap seals around the perimeter of the door. If I don't spray them ever so often with silicone, my door will do as you describe.

I learned something interesting a few weeks ago about the new doors and openers that were installed here a couple of months ago.
These are Roly-Door openers and they were working fine until one day one of the doors would start to close and then stop. Sometimes it would travel a few feet down and other times it would close half way and stop. No flashing of the lamps on the opener housing, indicating something blocking the sensors. And good solid green lights on the sensors.
The technician took a good look at the sensors and adjusted them slightly so they were pointing directly at each other. Somehow they had shifted just a few degrees away from "dead on" but not enough to trigger the flashing of the opener lights and reversal of the door.
This was the first time I've ever experienced a slight misalignment of the sensors not being apparent by changes in the indicating lights or other symptoms. Now I know what to look for if it happens again.
This may or may not have anything to do with the original poster's situation, just another quirk in the way they're designed.

Another trouble shooting tip. I pulled the manual release and raised and lowered the door several times by hand and found no binding or other problems with the tracks or rollers.
