Hey guys,

I don't know much about air compressors, so I want to make sure this will work for my needs (occasional weekend work with impact tools, painting, sanding). A buddy is selling a 9 hp truck mounted air compressor he used on his service truck to inflate semi truck tires.

It has a Robin 9.0 EX27 gas powered engine, on a 30 gallon tank, single-stage. It's a custom build, though, so I won't be able to find any cfpm ratings and whatnot. He says the engine has ~25 hours on it.

Would something like this work for my needs? I'll be getting it for $250

As long as you can stand listening to that engine putt away all afternoon! :)

Being "custom" make sure to check the receiver for rust and ensure that the engine governor idles the engine when the pump unloads. Otherwise, it's going to be REALLY noisy!

I'll be having it outside with a long air hose! I just wouldn't want it stinking up the garage, didn't even think of the noise..

And thanks for the tip! Anything else I should look out for or test?
