Ramps are a tool, right?

Can you fellas recommend a particularly good set of ramps that I can use on my '05 Silverado 1/2 ton for loading lawn tractors, snow blowers etc.? Something that wont kick out and cause me to soil my shorts, and that wont bend like foil, either. Again, to keep the shorts clean.

I use a set of ratchet straps well not the ratchet ones the pull type. They keep the ramps hooked to the back of my van when I am driving the golf cart inside it.

I have a foldable aluminum 3 panel that is ok for most items but not my mower. It gets high centered on the deck.I see some with a bow in them and that might work better. Mine secures with saftey straps to the truck tailgate locks.

I've always used the Craftsman steel ones that have hooks on them to keep them in place. They are curved also to make it a better angle for loading.

Have you tried your new hand truck!!!!! LOL!!!

My dad and I did use it today to get the new blower off his truck. But the forks don't seem well-suited to picking up an item like a blower, unless the they magically fit under it in such a way that they are squarely supporting substantial elements of the frame. And a mower with a deck? I don't see that happening.

Other than Craftsman mentioned in here, are there any other brands that are more highly regarded than others?

EDIT: Actually, you know what? I am going to take some measurements with a view to using the hand truck. Maybe if I put it on the forks perpendicularly, instead of parallel like we did today, it will seem less risky.

I still would like to know about the ramps for lawn tractor transportation purposes.

i've driven a ~600lb motorcycle up one of these (walked up on the other ramp):

not super light - hey, they're steel - but @ less than $50 with one of the 20% off coupons... they've got an angled piece at the top that rests on the tailgate and is parallel to the ground so they don't kick out. i've had mine for at least 3 or 4 years and have used them for everything from a big old riding lawmower to the aforementioned bike, to a BIG snowblower, to quads, and lots of golf carts.

I have some that I bought at an estate auction that are marked Ramp Lite Manufacturing. I have been very impressed but I can't find any info online about them.

The only other two brands I have experience with are Werner and Highland. Both worked just as well as my Craftsman.

Like he said. Please secure whatever ramp you buy with some straps.
