Truck Tool Box Recommendation?

I just got a new truck (not brand new, but used), because my other truck got totally destroyed about a month ago when some dumb broad t-boned the passenger side.

I know Weather Guard boxes are real good, but they look pretty expensive for a brand new one.....I really like the Dewalt full size truck boxes and they look about half the price of Weather Guard.

What other truck tool boxes are good?

just check craigslist for a used weatherguard box, I see them on there all the time for way cheaper than new. Just make sure it has keys, locks are about $100 for two if you don't have the key number to order replacements.

Is Weather Guard the best?

My neighbor has a Weather Guard box on his truck and it looks pretty old and still going strong.

I looked on craigslist and they're sellin the dusty used Weatherguards for roughly the same price as a brand new Dewalt box,LOL.

I have a Rawson Koenig which are also pricey. It is on my third truck and is 19 years old. One item I did to it that really increased the enjoyment factor was getting bedliner sprayed in it. Nothing moves around now and I don't have that super-fine aluminum dust everywhere.

Don't know if they have them in your area, but UWS always seemed like the best to me. I agree on the used one. You can get a used one in good shape for cheap on CL.

Id stay away from deezee. I had one on my truck and it pretty much fell apart. It was warrantied for me but I shelled out something like 30 bucks more for a Delta branded box. That was four years ago or so and its still seems almost new.

there all similar just keep an eye on Craigslist and look at the locks. I like the deltas alot but not so much that I wouldn't look at other things.

I'd run the pipe vertical as high as possible and then use 45's to get out through the wall with a quality ceiling/wall kit

I have had a Rawson Koenig for past 30 years. Very heavy duty box. Well made heavy gauge stainless steel. You would not be able to bend it.

Those are your big 3. Good quality boxes with the prices to go with them too.

I don't use a toolbox...I didn't buy a longbed truck just to put a box in it and make it a shortbed

To give precise recommendations, I would like to know what type of tool you need: for example Crossover style for full-sized trucks or side-mounted toolbox. In general my TOP manufacturer is Weatherguard. The best IMO is rawson koenig, or RKI

Yes, they are the best. If you are looking for a 15 year box that will get heavy use, that is it.

I bought a second hand Husky (it was a HD return) for 1/2 the price of a new Husky box to put on my utility trailer. It is good enough. If I were looking to put a box on my personal truck that would see occasional use, I'd look hard for a clearance/used Husky.

Mine is black diamond plate with stainless steel handles. Husky also services their boxes with parts availability.

Also.... I was astonished at the prices of truck tool boxes. I thought I paid too much for mine at $125, only to find out it was half price!

And no, I haven't priced a 'real' Weather Guard box, I can only imagine they are hitting close to a grand.

I got a Knaack box used off Craigslist. Remove the fork skids and sectioned the body 2” so the top sits at the rail height. Then welded the bottom back on and powder coated it. Yes that seems like a ton of work but it’s solid, meets my needs, and tough to break into with the recessed lock wells.
