YOU GOT SCREWED -- because you didn't understand what you had in your hand, and because you didn't explain it to them so that they would understand that what you were giving to them was legitimate.
It's an electronic "Internet coupon". There is no such thing as an "original" or a "copy". TrueValue places these coupons on their web site with the intent that you will print them out, and they intend to honor the printout when you present one coupon at the store.
There are two ways to get these TrueValue coupons -- one is to cut them out of the add-on if you're lucky enough to get one that comes with your local newspaper; the other is to go to the TrueValue web site, view their weekly ad, print it, and clip the coupon from the printout.
TrueValue *intends* for you to obtain their coupons by going to their web site and printing the weekly sales flyer. If you do that, then every electronic coupon that you print is *genuine*. Then, once you have a genuine coupon, you are bound by the rules that are printed on the coupon. That's exactly what we did.
If you want to go on a shopping spree, then you have two choices: a) go to your neighbors and ask for their copies of the "original" TrueValue ads from the newspaper (like I did); or b) go to the TrueValue web site, download a copy of their current sales flyer and print out the "original" web coupon (like I did). Then take your "genuine" coupons to the stores, and present one coupon at every store that you visit.
I left the house this morning with a stack of "genuine" clipped-newspaper coupons in my wallet, and a stack of "genuine" black and white printouts from the web site. I had a mapped-out itinerary that took me to every HD and Lowes store in the region. We went on a "road trip" and made a day of it. We just got home.
We went to 6 different HD stores today and 4 different Lowes, and we used the TrueValue coupons to make $39 purchases at all 10 stores. WeI read the terms of the offer, and I abided by them. I formulated an itinerary for a day long trip to 10 stores to buy a pre-selected lot of articles at our "make your own" sale.
We abided by the rules. Even though two of us went to the store, we only used one coupon for our family. We didn't try to have two people in the family make two separate coupon purchases, as that would be breaking the rules. We only used the coupon to buy fully-priced, non-sale merchandise that cost $40 or less. We always presented the coupon to the cashier, telling her that it was a "competitor's coupon" and asked if they would honor it. Most of the time the cashier accepted it without hesitation. On a couple of occasions the cashier phoned the store office to talk to the manager before running the coupon.
As soon as the cashier said "TrueValue 40% on $40", the conversation with her manager was over. The store managers at HD and Lowes were aware of the TrueValue coupon, as they had been accepting it every day for the past week. In every case the store manager instructed their cashiers to honor it as soon as the words "TrueValue" were spoken into the phone. I think they must have had a significant number of other people presenting TrueValue coupons over the past week, because by the final day of the sale the managers were already conditioned to respond with an immediate "yes" if the TrueValue question ever came up.
We made a day of it, and road-tripped to 10 stores over the course of 10 hours today. At every store we presented the coupon for a one item purchase, and every store accepted it. Then we moved on to the next store. By the end of the day my sedan was filled with stuff -- trunk filled, back seat filled, boxes piled to the ceiling, and cargo was even in the front seat. My co-pilot had to make the final leg of the trip home with a 22-inch Ridgid tool box in her lap.
If I had been smart, I would have avoided the last minute road trip, and I would have been using the coupons at my local stores every day over the holiday weekend . But I wasn't that smart. I put off using them until the last day they were valid, so I had to spend the whole day on a shopping spree hitting every HD and Lowes store in my region. It was quite a bit of fun. In addition to using the coupons to buy a lot of items at 40% off, I also found some killer closeout merchandise at both HD and Lowes. I made a killing, and I followed the rules to the letter while I did it. It was a lot of fun.

I guess thread should of said go to TrueValue.com to print your own coupon. With people requesting a better scan to print IF it was on there site no reason to print, just scan your phone.
Bought a few dewalt combo cases...
I hope you bought the 2 pack cases for the same price.

Still valid today? Coupon ended on the 7th, today is the 8th.
I did it more for a test of if the HD employees even read them...... 3 employees were involved and no one said a thing.

I looked at my HD today display is gone the combo packs are no where to be found. And they had quite a few left hmmmm woder where it went ?
