Truecraft ratchet problem

I'm working on getting the nonfunctioning ratchets that came with my mass buy working. This one has me stumped. It is a 72 tooth and appears very well made but I can't figure out how it is supposed to work. The top disk rotates but doesn't really do anything inside. When the anvil is turned, the pawl engages the outer gear no matter which direction. I don't see any place to put a spring. Has anyone had one of these apart?
Edit: Sorry, forgot the photos.

Truecraft was made for Daido Japan by several different companies so the internals may not be exactly the same. . .

Generally speaking, they're good durable ratchets

It looks very similar to a Facom 72 tooth mechanism. There should be a little heart shaped spring that fits in the hole on the pawl which interacts with the nub on the selector. See if you can find a teardown of a facom ratchet. That should help.

Eta. Here's a link with a picture showing how a Facom ratchet comes apart and goes together.

deleted. .

Edit: The pics help a lot! Yup, missing the heart shaped spring. You can get rebuild kits. I have several of the modern version of that ratchet (Facom, SK, Proto) they're easy to work on. I've never seen one with that style cap though, only familiar the 'Palm Control' version.

Made in Japan.
Thanks for the help guys. I'll see if I can make the spring. The ratchet isn't worth the cost of the rebuild kit.

That's very interesting, M.I. Japan with French guts. Very cool find.
