I had originally planned on doing epoxy on the whole floor, then installing the tiles only in my '3rd' bay in the garage, since that is my working area. Don't mind the mess, it's the typical condition the garage is in, and the few tiles that are missing in the picture are installed now.
Once I had the tiles installed, the wife liked them so much, she wanted me to install them on her 1/2 (really 2/3rds) of the garage as well instead of epoxy. I went with the solid tiles for the area between the cars and the border, then used the Ribbed tiles for the area that she parks her car. I figured since her's is a daily driver, it will help to keep the snow and rain off of the floor. Once again, don't mind the clutter..
My OCDness is not liking the fact that the blue rectangle on the wife
side is not centered, but that's the spot she parks her car. It gives us room to get stuff out of the middle of the garage without having to move it, and it doesn't block the steps to the entry door.
I did just order some additional Ribbed tiles to make that area a little wider, hoping it helps with the look.
So far I like it, I've had my side done for a few months now and haven't had any issues. Spills wipe up easily, and it feels nicer to lay on than the concrete. It should help in the winter as well, hopefully the floor won't feel as cold when laying on it. One thing I noticed, even with the diamond tread pattern on the solid tiles, they are much more comfortable to walk on barefoot than the ribbed tiles.
I did have the tiles pull apart when setting a car down off a floor jack though. I set it down fairly fast and as the suspension settled, the camber on the front tires must have changed enough to pull them apart. Not a big deal, but kind of an inconvenience, I'll have to empty a big cabinet to be able to slide that portion of the floor back to reconnect it.
