This subject has been cover alot. Try a search. I would sister 2x6 or 8s to the top cord of truss, nail a stringer across from side to side, just above the max height you need. Cut out truss bracing. Many will disagree, but I am a carpenter.

I asked this question a couple of months ago. I talked to my roofing company (friend of family) and they said no problem. I will have the design drawn by an engineer and then have the contractor build them. I'm only going to replace 4 or 5 to make room for a 2 post lift in the future. I'm going to have scissor trusses put in. When you search look for scissor or my user name. Good luck.

With out talking to an structural engineer, I wouldn't go cutting up your trusses. By cutting out pieces of the truss you change the way the truss works. Remember what works for someone else may not work for you. It depends on the on a lot of factors, but what do I know I just design the things.
