TimberLok vs Simpson Strongtie - or hex head vs. star? Have you used both and which do you like? I think I need 6" to secure rafters to top plate and think I go in at an angle between top plates.

I used the FastenMaster TimberLOK® 5/16" x 6" Hex Drive Black Hex Head Timber Screw. My 5amp drill had a hard time driving them. Impact might be a better option. Aim matters or you will drive them right out the side of the truss. I drove mine through the top plates.

I've used both plus the GRKrss.
I'm totally sold on the torx, they're positive engagement with the driver even allows for a suprising amount of misalignment and it still will drive. I've been getting the best deal on the Simpson in the 250 & 500 count tubs.
