Trying to determine what this is

All the components store in the metal tube on the right. The flat metal blade fits into slots on the tube and can be used as a screwdriver, I assume. The brush and what looks like a gun cleaning patch holder are not threaded to mount on a rod or handle. Found this in some stuff at my FIL. He's 87 and cannot remember what this thing is.

Any ideas?

Unlike any AK cleaning kit I've seen but it certainly screams Soviet-made. Looks like the notches on the screwdriver tip could also be used as a sight adjustment tool.

Are the ends opposite the brushes recessed? I'm wondering if they were intended to be pushed through the bore with the guide rod of the weapon.

Yes, the base end is hollow. I was thinking the same thing since they are not threaded.

My FIL never had any military pattern firearms of any kind, though. Mystery as to where he got this.

I could be wrong, but it reminds me of a service kit for cleaning the ****** and receiver for a small black powder percussion cap muzzle loader. The notch in the little tool might be for breaking the ****** loose from the receiver threads, and the tip to help speed along unscrewing it. The rod used to clean out the channel in the ******, and the brushes to clean out the receiver. Just a guess.
