I found this "free" toolbox . I was super excited because I need one!
i found out one of the drawer slider has issue.. I was going to replace the sliders but then i noticed the current slides are " tab mounted" they must have another name.. as I can't find these anywhere on line.. And there is just a little bit of room to even try and screw a new set in. instead i am trying to "fix...build/ make" a replacement end stop that one of the slides is missing.it is kind of a mess at this point . any suggestions? i am tempted to just set it out on the curb and let someone else have it.
But I am trying to find an easier way of doing things.. i am good at making over complicated projects. trying to keep it simple.
thanks!
here is a link to what this tool box is

thats a good idea! i will post a photo tomorrow of the space i have ot work with.. i post of the space on 1 side is about 2" wide.. that is the left hand photo. the righthand photo is of the inside- you can see the hole on the left and right side (barely) where the tabs from rail go. i guess there might be 3 inches of space to get in there. but not sure. .will check and let ya know. thanks

You may not need to replace the sliders. I have an older Matco box with similar slides and most of the drawers began to stick terribly. I removed the slides, soaked them in kerosene overnight, wire brushed and rinsed with more kerosene. Let them dry over night and hit them with white lithium lube. My heaviest drawers are now a joy to open and close. I beleive these are standard sliders, buit don't know where to get replacements.

thank you! the issue was the end stop was missing so the smallest part of slider with ball bearings came out the end of the slide . luckily i found all the ball bearings.. I couldnt find an end stop.. not sure what they are called?? the small piece of rubber/ plastic that holds the slider in place at the end of the drawer? I may have fashioned one out of another slider I have.. it was a bit bigger but i melted it some and used a dremel some and it seems to "fit" what is the best way to get those drawer sliders back into place? i did a trail run yesterday but i wasn't able to get a good solid mash down of the clip onto the plastic.. it is very hard to reach for me. I did use some "super grease" i think it was called.. and because the rail wasn't in strong enough it was a bit wobbly and the top row of bearings came out. will try again.. i hope the end stop i made will work out.

what type of things to you store in the bottom section that pulls out and down
thanks for the ideas!

When working for a bank I was tasked with replacing slides in the Tellers Cash Drawers. My predecessor had been buying low priced slides from the “Big Box” Home Store. My boss went ballistic when I purchased high quality ball bearing slides, but a year later he was pleased that the quality slides were outlasting the cheapest ones.

I took a slide stop out from another slider and melted and dremeled it down to work as stop for the toolbox drawer. thanks!
Now i need to figure out how to get the slider tabs mounting in tightly and flat. I only have about a 2" space to reach in and up to flatten the tabs to the box. . other idea put in a wooden shim and if i can get a screw (maybe self tapping) just attach the slide to the wooden shim.

here is the area i have to work with - I can get the tabs inside these slots but It isn't easy to flatten the tabs evenly against the box to hold the rails tightlyInkedIMG-0319_LI.jpgInkedIMG-0312_LI.jpgIMG-0324.JPG
