I am trying to get an rough idea of what it would cost to build my shop I am considering. I really don't know which way I want to go as far as building materials and such.

I am in Amarillo, Texas because that matters with pricing.

It will be a 24' x 24' shop with 12' walls for a future lift hopefully. on an residential lot.

I have been considering building a pole barn type myself and just doing everything minus the concrete and actual electric junction into the main house. But I have never attemped anything of this nature.

I would consider a metal shop also. I just don't know a rough idea of what it should cost.

Any help would be great.

Do any of the lumber yards or stores like Menards sell a garage "kit?" The only way I know that you can do everything yourself is to stick frame and stick build the roof. Unless you have a crane, or at least a forklift, and a lot of patience and energy. Just setting the main door header can be too much for most lone wolf builders.

Anyone that can package the materials is giving you a good price for all of it delivered all at once. If you do all or most of the work, that and your concrete are your 2 major costs.

 The closest Menards to Amarillo is about 1500 miles I think.

As above - call Mueller and look in the back of any Farm&Ranch magazine as there are bunches of barns for sale with pricing. Also depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to insulate and wall up the inside, you'll spend a lot more. DIY price depends on how much DIY you can do. If you can do it all but the concrete, $10~15 sq/ft is possible.
