I just bought a 2003 Toro zero turn mower with a 72" deck. I know the engine is a Kawasaki, and it is liquid cooled, but I am trying to find out what exact engine is in it. Every time I do a search it pulls up newer models that are very different than mine.

Just trying to find the specs on it so I can further research how to maintain it with oil, oil filter, spark plugs ect.

My previous mower had the Kholer engine which I found what automotive oil filter fit (which saved a lot of money and worked perfect), how much oil and what weight ect. I was hoping to do the same on this one.

Anyone have any knowledge on this particular mower?

Toro has model and serial number decals on their machines. Do you have yours?

The engine itself should have a model number on it somewhere.

Toro is pretty good about listing what model engine is on a frame by said frame model number, that's why I mentioned that first. Some of the engine numbers can be a bit obscure especially on the riders.

Probably a FD series, what HP? I assume twin cyl, vertical shaft, liquid cooled, radiator on top? I can send you a service manual if you need it.

Sorry if the pic is upside down (whenever I take a pic on my phone it's like this for some reason).

At any rate, this is the only stamp, sticker or info I can find.

Looks like that may be the FD671D.

google that and you will find the service manual for the engine on many sites.

You may be correct turbodave.

On Kawasaki's website, the engine looks different in the picture, but I believe it is the same FD750D engine.

Says I need 2.1 quarts of oil. Anyone know what weight oil I should run? SAE 30 maybe?

It was a NAPA filter on it. I just replaced it with another NAPA filter with the same number to make it easy.

I added the 2.1 quarts of oil, but the dipstick is showing a bit high (over the full mark). This was checked after I started it and let the oil fill up the oil filter. It's not a ton over the full mark, but I am wondering if the factory 2.1 quarts is too much.
