This jack was my dad's and as I've grown a little older and a little wiser I'd like to refurbish it for sentimental reasons. I've taken the hydraulic unit to a local shop where I was told it's old China junk and that I should just buy a harbor freight jack since none of the seals are available. Well that's why I am hoping an expert here could direct me to what brand/make this jack is. Thanks for your help guys. By the way there looks to have been a identity sticker on it that has long since been gone.

Yes indeed ask Hiball, something in my gut is telling me the guy was wrong, the construction is very well done if it was made in China? Either he did not want to work on it (for reasons unknown) or maybe he knows something that we do not know at this time.

I just took the main ram unit in to the local shop. He measured the the main ram and since it came out metric he told me "not available/China Junk/ETC". I agree that he just didn't want to work on/sell me parts for it...maybe liability issues as it is a jack? At any rate thanks for the replies and I will add more pics after 5pm est.
I do believe it to be a Older Import jack, Probably 10 ton, the jack is still in production today, albeit with some subtle changes. I'll await pictures of the hydraulic unit to confirm, but if memory serves it should be a big cylindrical unit, simple design. The "local shop" just doesn't want to mess with it, or incompetent, there is nothing special about the seals outside of being metric sized. If the cylinder, Rod surfaces along with the Casters/wheels are good it's good jack and worth of a rebuild.
Alright had a chance to get out in the shop and take some pics and general measurements. Even if I could purchase a different hydraulic assembly to replace the original that would be OK. Any thoughts on the original/current brand? Believe it or not this jack still worked OK other then leaking...Boy those seals were brittle.

Yeah, I live in a very rural "city" and most of the equipment this place was servicing was larger farm stuff. Don't think they really care about losing a little money on a jack rebuild or even on selling the parts to me for me to do it myself. I really wish he would have been more honest and just told me that they really had no interest in repairing it-instead of the "NOT AVAILABLE" thing...
This jack was my fathers when he raced hobby stock cars in the 60's and 70's....well before I came along in 1981. He passed in 2000 and since then I've gotten married/started a career (Evinrude Master Tech)/had kids and finally have started to appreciate some sentimental things-like fixing this jack. I figure they don't build them like they used too.

If that is from the 60 or 70's I'll be extremely surprised if that jack was made in China. Japan yes China i doubt it

I can't say exactly when he got it but it was before my time so early eighties or older. My older brothers cant remember where it came from either so no help there. I am happy to have found this resource as a tool for getting the proper parts and possibly finding out the manufacturers name. I have poured over google photos of various vintage service jacks and have not found a single one exactly like it.

China wasn't sending things like that to the U.S. in the 1980's. It might be from Taiwan or Japan tho.
