Does anyone have one of their JobSmart sandblast cabinets?

The reason I ask is that once in a while I have small things I'd like to strip. One is that fanblade and hub from hell. So I picked up the benchtop blaster today. $99 for the cabinet and then I bought a large bucket of the #80 Garnet stripper. The cabinet says to use no more than 100lbs. of air pressure. I can see why. Once you start blasting, the sand comes out from the seals. I am running between 70 & 80 pounds of air. The lid is on top and the media comes out from around the seals on the corners of the lid. There is a filter on the side, and a filter on the back. The media comes out from around those.

If anyone has one, did you do anything to modify it? I'm going to have to clean this out when I get done stripping a few things, then use some silicone sealer on all of the seams of the cabinet. As far as around the filters, I can seal the side conical air filter up, but then there is another filter in the back that I don't see where it can be sealed with the way it's made. It doesn't have a pleated filter like it does on the side, but it's just a round white polyester sort of filter.

If you have one of the JobSmart cabinets, let me know what modifications you did if any.

Instead of the filter setup try using a Shopvac.

I'll do that. I'll have to make a fitting for it to hook to the ShopVac. It does a good job of cleaning parts, but it's just a damn mess. I had dust everywhere yesterday. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to clean the shop after using it. Every horizontal surface in the shop had dust on it from the media I used.

Kevin, I feel your pain. I have one of this cabinets and HATE it. I despise the fact that after a moderate amount of use you cant see inside once you start blasting due to it filling full of dust. I have put a shop vac on the side filter to help pull a negative air on it to help with the seams leaking. I have also drilled a 1/2" hole in the oposite side to allow fresh air in which has helped some. Let me know what you have done since this is a year old post that might help me.

I'll second the shop vac. I have the floor model HF and the vac clears it out nice when in use. Surprisingly I have no leaks. Silicone will be perfect. I use the HF 8gal shop vac with it that's underneath.

I have the same cabinet. I siliconed every seam, inside and out, before I used it (thanks to a tip in an old GJ thread). I also use blue painters tape around the outside of the lid. If you can find them, also invest in a package of visor "covers". They help somewhat in slowing down the eventual abrasion on the inside of the visor window.
