I have a generac gp5500 generator.I can't get the tube breather back on can I run it without it thanks

No, it will make an oil mess, and only get worse as the valves work their way out of adjustment and start to pressurize the crankcase. Just need to pull the air cleaner box and maneuver it in through the choke lever mount plate and into the valve cover.

Thanks yea I'm having problems getting the hose into valve cover

You can remove the valve cover if that will help you maneuver it in. Luckily those engines are a Honda knockoff with a reusable rubber gasket. Remove the center bolt and get the breather in, then set it and re-install the bolt.

They are a pain to fight in with needle nose pliers, but can be done with a lot of (very frustrating) work.

The valves tighten and reduce the vacuum in the cylinder, so instead of pulling the crankcase pressure and oil mist into the cylinder to burn, it continues to build and spray out of the valve cover, tube and air cleaner.

These little 1 lung Chinese generators always have blow-by, and even with regular maintenance (which they almost never see) only make it maybe 500 hours.

They can turn into an oil soaked mess pretty fast, and when you mix that with the rats nests that get built on top of them when stored, we've had some sketchy stuff dropped off at the shop that luckily didn't start up and burn their house down!
