Third post so far, loving this site! What do you folks think about TuffShed garages for a shop. I am not a carpenter and am not wealthy. Looking to build 18x30(due to space available) Any opions? Thanks in advance

I know you say you're not a carpenter, but I think you'll find you could build the same thing yourself for less money. You're paying a premium for convenience. I'd check around and see what a local guy will build something that size for you before you pull the trigger. A lot of times, you can find a laborer to help on the weekends, or someone looking for extra hours.

I have a Tuffshed 10X12 shed and if I had to do it over again I probably wouldn't. The overall quality is just OK IMO. Since I had it done I have found a couple of contractors that could have done a more custom shed of higher quality and at a better price. So, with a little research you might be able to do the same.

A few years back I was looking at a few different shed builders to build me a shed. I finally broke the bank and built it myself. I built a 14x16x8 wood shed for under $600. It cost me another $200 for the slab. So $800 total give or take a few bucks. The sheds I was looking to buy had wood floors and if I remember correctly were going to cost just under $3000. It sure would have been easier to just have someone else build it, but I would bet it would not have been half the quality of what I have. Do it yourself, you won't regret it. Oh and the best part, is that I had to buy tools I can use on other projects.
I talked with my wife, she said that it was over 7 years ago since I built the shed. So prices for materials have gone up since then. But then so have the store bought sheds.
Now I am thinking of building a 32x32 garage myself. It's just a big shed, right?

I believe they sell a couple of shed building books at Lowes to help you.

When I moved to my current house I needed a shed ASAP (it doesn't have a garage) so I bought an expensive "plastic" one at Lowes. If I could do it over again I would try and build my own. I actually think it might be kinda fun. Maybe with my next house (which will have a garage).
