Would putting automotive tune-up grease on the contacts of 6V lantern batteries keep them from corroding? In general, would it be a good idea to use it on any dry cell battery terminal to inhibit corrosion?
Thanks,

There are two greases I know of locally.

I got some battery terminal/protector grease in a small packet at the parts house......then there is dielectric/tune-up/bulb grease

Yeah, Joe and JK. I know what you are saying. I always thought those greases were dielectrics and therefore insulators. But then on the car shows they're always putting it on spark plug boots and light sockets, and battery connections so I was just wondering if I was wrong or not; maybe it wasn't an insulator and it would just inhibit corrosion. That's why I posted the question; I just wasn't sure.
What else would you guys suggest I use to cut down on corrosion at the 6V connections?
When I took the lantern apart one of the connections was pretty heavily corroded.
Thanks,
