Tuning up a miter saw

I'm kind of ashamed to admit it but I was never one to get my miter saw perfectly square. I got it close enough and called it good. I just got a new Bosch miter saw and want to get it all dialed in. Also want to get my old Bosch trued up before I decide to sell it or keep it. Any advice or tips on how to tune up a miter saw and make sure it's cutting right on? Any good YouTube videos on this?

Probably the best way is called the '5 cut' method. Basically you take a piece of plywood and make a cut, then rotate it counter clockwise (always place the freshest cut against the back fence) to make the next cut. When you make the final 5th cut - you want to measure the width of the off cut piece nearest the fence and again at the opposite end. This amplifies any error fourfold - and will show you how accurate your cut is

This video kind of shows how to do it - be his doing it on a table saw. You correct for the error and then repeat until you get it dialed in to your satisfaction

With the Bosch - look at the right end of the angle gauge, it tells you how to adjust it and they give you the allen wrench for it (back behind the left side of the fence)

Cut a piece of straight wood, is it square? If so you are good, if not look for the adjustment screws or google your model number for specific instructions.
I know, you need to try the 45 and bevels too.

I just did the five cut and it took 3 times but it's dead on now. Thanks. It was actually really easy and I can't believe all these years I just used a square and called it close enough.

Now that I got the fence worked out what is the best way to to true up the bevel?
