I am mounting a TV on the wall in my shop. I don't have room for the dish box or dvd player near the tv so I want to mount them on the other side of the shop under the work bench. instead of running two Hdmi cables, can I run just a single cable and a jumper Hdmi cable from the dvd box to the dish box? Any tips would be great. Thanks

If you get an hdmi switch and place it by your boxes and run the single output cable to the tv that should work. Then you use the switch to select sat or DVDs. The tv stays on the same input all the time. Should work. Just find a good switch.

Depending on the length of your run, you might be better off running two CAT6 cables and using a HDMI-over-CAT6 extender.

HDMI cables can only be run so far and in-the-wall cables can get really pricey.

I went with the receiver/surround sound idea. I have a 22x22 garage with a small workshop attached. One "small" speaker in each corner made it so I can have the volume at lower level and still have great sound throughout the garage...No more need to crank it up to hear across the garage.

For just video, I agree with the Monoprice idea, they have an HDMI switch for 10 bucks. Hard to argue with that.
