Put a separate antenna in the garage? You need to be a little more specific in your question.

Chromecast and a sling tv subscription. Between that Netflix and the antenna in our new house we got rid of cable. Sling tv has 20 channels including ESPN food network and hgtv. The Internet is still expensive ($80/month) but I went from a $210 cost a month for cable and Internet (and phone that I didn't use) down to $107 for Internet, sling, and Netflix. The antenna was already set up in the new house and I'm 60 miles from Chicago and still can pull 66 channels out of the air.

Welcome to Garage Journal. Sort of an odd question for a first posting. If you would, could you put your state into your profile as it does help to answer questions, or even ask them. No city necessary, but a state will suffice. Thanks

As far as your question, we need a little more info. First off, a TV runs off 110v but you know that. Secondly, how far is the garage from the house? Is it attached, detached, in town, out of town, how far away from the house is the garage, and do you have cable or not at the present?

I got this antenna and put it in my attic:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DNJZ58M/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Used http://antennaweb.org to find the towers in my area and a compass app on my phone to aim the antenna in the correct direction.

We get about 20 channels and have an amazon fire stick for movies. I also bought my own cable modem so I don't rent equipment from the cable co. anymore. Bill dropped from $150+ for cable/internet/phone to $65 for faster internet/phone.

I got a larger roof mount antenna with a rotator that I may install to pick up more channels.

Also note, for OTA signals there is no such thing as an "High Def Antenna" - they send the signals over regular broadcast frequencies so rabbit ears or any old Radio shack unit (do they even still sell antennas?) will do fine.

Lol, I'm glad someone just asked this question. I was thinking of adding a TV to my 40 X 64 new pole barn. I set aside an area for a bar, thought I would add a TV. I don't want to add separate satellite service for the TV but was thinking of those devices to pick up local channels. I'm in Fowlerville , Michigan. I'm close enough to the house to get a decent WFI signal , does the anntena need to be mounted outside or in the rafters?

If you bury a conduit for the coax, I'd stick a Cat5e or 6 in the conduit at the same time.
