Has anyone used the Monoprice Low Profile tilting wall mount? The one I ordered is #12248. Just curious, likes or dislikes. I am mounting a 48" Samsung. Only weighs 28 lbs.! I have used the regular tilting wall mounts before and like the quality.

I just looked that one up and the next size up might be what is holding up our 65" Plasma downstairs. It looks very familiar but I'm sure as heck not pulling that TV down to check, LOL.
Plasmas are heavy and I had trouble with the weight overpowering the tilt adjusters. It was fine perfectly vertical but once you started to tilt it forward it wanted to tilt all the way.
I ended up using metal zip ties to keep the tilt at the angle I wanted.
I doubt you'll have that problem with a 28 lb TV.
The low profile part makes it a bit harder to get cables in but my tiny wife takes care of that while I hold the TV. It is nice having the TV tucked as close to the wall as possible.

I think I have the normal profile version and have had it hanging for 6-7 years now. Never had a problem. I think when I purchased mine I remember there was some complaints about the lag bolts which could have been user error. I made sure to pilot the holes and didn't have any problems.

Had to add some flat stock spanners for an older plasma, but it looks like it will work for me. My TV weighs 65+5lbs added weight and the mount is for up to 88lbs.

I ordered a similar mount years ago & used for my 55" plasma. Like Voi, I had an issue with the tilt feature actually working as designed. It was either fully tilted or straight up and down. In my case I had the TV mounted high enough I preferred the full tilt, although it was minimal really.
Never tried using metal zip ties, so I can't comment on that one. Also for me, getting my hand back there to make any adjustments was a pain. Maybe my paw is just too big but it seemed kind of stupid to me to make a unit you could adjust but couldn't really access to adjust.
FYI, prior to hanging my plasma, I originally purchased the hanger for an older LCD (early model when LCD's weren't very thin & heavy). When mounting the brackets to the TV I guess the screw was too long as I hit a metal piece inside the TV when screwing it together. The TV didn't work afterwards. Took to a repair shop and got fixed, but it always had quirky electrical issues after that (turn on/off by itself, input selections randomly appear, etc).
I never tried mounting that TV again and chalked it up to the TV being poorly designed to really accept a universal mount. Still when I was preparing to mount to the plasma I was very careful in pre-screwing the unit softly by hand and ensuring I had the proper length of screw before starting.
All that being said, the unit I had was rock solid and held my plasma for several years. It was a good bang for the buck despite the (flawed) tilt feature.

Thanks for the responses. As the Low Profile/Ultra Thin mount puts the TV closer to the wall, I am going to "try" to plug everything in before hanging the TV on the bracket. All the wires will come thru the wall behind the TV. I don't like wires showing. Planning on installing this weekend. I will post my results when done.

I've had great success with the cheap Amazon mounts in the past. VideoSecure, like J Persons suggests, is one make that I've used. I have no idea why people spend the outrageous amounts of money on the mounts I've seen on some websites and Best Buy. I guess if I had a $7000 TV, I'd be more concerned but alas, if I had that kind of TV, money wouldn't be an issue anyway!

I think I have the same mount but it may be the next size up. I have a 50" Samsung LED. My TV is recessed into the wall above the fireplace so getting to the wiring and keeping them out of the way while trying to hook the brackets onto the frame is a royal PITA.
On top of that, the elect cord and coax cable kink pretty hard when it is finally hung into position. I also added a surge protector that plugs directly into the outlet so it reduced the clearance I had. http://www.amazon.com/Monster-PowerProtect-outlets-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B000E312X2
By the time everything was connected, *******, and tightened into place, no issues. We did have an issue with the directv signal which turned out to be a simple fix, (loose connection) but to get to the genie and check connections everything has to come down which again is a PITA. In hindsight I would go with the swing out mount just to ease access to the back of the TV for troubleshooting. But like I said my application is recessed into the wall so YMMV

After getting my TV, I can't recommend the mount for heavier, +40lbs, TVs. Not that the mount failed, but it definitely does not move as easily as you would expect it to, and it does not feel as secure as I would want. But it is on the wall now, only way it is coming down is on its own, if it dies, or if the next occupant wants to remove it.
I got the TV mounted with the low profile mount. I liked the mount. The TV had the HDMI plug-ins coming out side ways, rather than straight out the back, so that helped. I did have 90 degree adapters just in case. The TV is close to the wall. You have to really be careful locking in the bottom with the spring loaded catch/lock. Make sure it locks in. Makes it nice to remove the TV if need be. The bracket itself if shorter, which required using anchors on one end. Overall, would recommend.

well, its been up for a week and hasn't fallen yet, so I guess it is good to go. this one is mounted with three lag bolts into a stud.

I do this **** for a living at a University. We use high end mounts for liability issues. You know, don't want TV's and projectors falling on your kids! Well, at least not until their final senior semester and we have all their money! LOL!!

Monoprice is awesome. Cables, wiring, Bluetooth adapters, tv mounts, ordered them all and never have had one issue with anything. I have used them for the past 8 years. All our mounts are Monoprice.
