I'm on my phone so I can't see too well, but it looks like a base for an upright antenna, but the actual antenna part is missing.

I'm going to say it's for an outside antenna mount for a scanner or maybe a wifi unit. The plug goes into the antenna jack on the radio gear, the wire (75 ohm coax) carries the signal to or from the antenna, which is screwed onto the big round base.
Regular RF (radio) transmit is 50 ohm, this is 75 ohm, wich is used for Cable TV, Data, etc....

Back about 25 years ago parents had a bag phone when cell phones weren't in every hand, as I type this from my phone. Lol. We had something similar that stuck to the car roof and was a longer range antenna. Back in the day where you only got service in half the map. I cant remember if it had bnc or cable connects like that one does. Either way it was very similar. Stuck on car roof and ran cord threw door and could get better signal.

We’re not quick connect bnc. Same size, but full thread. More like a vhf for a cb radio.
