Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forum. Looking for some inspiration for my single garage on a new build house.

Spec wise its roughly 6mx2.6m single garage with a concrete floor. It has plug sockets near the up and over door and a light switch either end for a single centrally mounted batten strip light.

Here are some pictures taken when we first moved in:

Here is the exterior of the garage. I want to build my own car port in front of the garage to cover my daily driver, thats a project for late 2018:

Not the most spectacular of garage, especially over the massive double garage we had in our old house, however we chose area and size of house/drive over a double garage. So I want to make the most of garage I have which will be used to store my fun weekend/track toy:

Anyway back to the garage. I started off by sealing the floors with a water/PVA glue mix to reduce the dust.

Next I painted the walls with a white paint to brighten it up in there.

After about 3 coats, I added some temp storage until I decided what I wanted in there:

Found this dumped in a field, which I have cleaned up and want to mount on the wall in the garage:

Next up I want to board the ceiling up properly and paint that white aswell. I have access to a load of free wood to do this, so it isnt going to cost me anything. That should tidy up the ceiling area which is ugly right now:

I also want to increase the lighting so going to look at some bright LED lights to add light at both ends aswell as the middle of the garage.

More updates to come, any feedback I would be please to hear.

Floor wise, I was looking at Plasfloor tiles, in a red and black check taking inspiration from the colours in that sign, something like this:

Wow That's a bit excessive in brake department. Do you get too much transfer to the fonts that rears barely do any work? I remember back in my FWD days I ran 11" Corrado brakes on my Gen I Scirocco and the back became useless till I added weight and that was counter productive.

What do people think of the black and red check floor?

The Mini rear brakes barely do anything as stock anyway so nothing to worry about.

Decided I wanted to insulate the garage door to warm it up a little bit and remove the drafts.

I went for a very cheap solution using the following:

2x JABLITE FLOOR INSULATION 2400MM 1200MM 25MM =£14
http://www.diy.com/departments/jablite-floor-insulation-2400mm-1200mm-25mm/26822_BQ.prd

1x Utility Duct Tape Silver & Black 48mmx15m - 8 pack = £6

1x Thermawrap General Purpose Wrap Single 600mm x 7.5m = £9.99

Gave the door a quick clean on the inside:

I taped up the joins down the edges on the inside of the door as there was air getting through. I then cut the jablite polystyrene panels with a sharp knife. Cut very easy and cut to such a tight fit they hold themselves in place without any adhesive.

I taped up all the joins and around the edge to ensure it was as airtight as I could get it.

I had to stop for the night however tomorrow I will be using the thermawrap to cover the panels and add another layer of insulation.

Interested to see what impact this has.

Oh and I also slipped pipe lagging across the bottom edge of the door. These are again held on with pressure and bridge the small gap between the floor and the door. They cant be seen from the outside which is also a bonus.

Just working through design ideas before I order the floor. Want to get the colour scheme spot on.

Floor:
Chequerboard pattern of either red and black to grey and black.
Rear Wall:
1000mm Kitchen cupboard base unit with single shelf to store cleaning products and rattle cans etc
1000mm wall cupboard to store blue roll, micro fibres, drying towels etc
Under cupboard LED lighting to light up the work top under the wall cupboard
Contrasting splash back between bottom of wall cupboard and work top
Roughly 1.7m long work top(Black) to cover cupboard and existing rolling tool chest(Black)

Here are a few designs, clearly the floor tile pattern will be larger but I took the easy route using a small fill pattern in powerpoint to create the mock ups:

Red/Black floor with red cupboard doors:

Red/Black floor with Wooden doors - not sure on this one:

Red/Black floor with Grey doors:

Grey/black floor with grey doors, feels boring:

Any thoughts?

I like the grey on grey, but it's not my garage.

Looks like you've modded the F56 a bit to what is it JCW?

Cheers, grey just feels a little cold and in the UK climate thats not good :)

Yeah F56 has quite a bit of work done to it, started life as a Cooper S.

• KW Suspension Variant 1 INOX Coilovers (full laser alignment completed at the same time)
• Speedline Marmora 18x8 ET45 Alloy Wheels (finished in custom bronze)
• Michelin Pilot Super Sport 205/40/18 Tyres
• Remus Valvetronic Sports Exhuast (with Bluetooth controlled ‘Bimodal’ valve and carbon fibre / titanium tips)
• Manic Motorsport remap - 300bhp and 460nm torque
• Airtec front mount intercooler
Scorpion high flow decatted downpipe
• John Cooper Works Brembo Brake upgrade (4 piston calipers & 335x30mm front discs / red rear calipers)
• Custom Air Intake
• Ultra racing Strut Brace
• John Cooper Works Body Kit (incl JCW fog delete & JCW grille)
• John Cooper Works PRO Rear Diffuser & Front Splitters
• John Cooper Works PRO Carbon Fibre Bonnet Scoop
• John Cooper Works Aluminium Gear Knob
• Colour Coded Chrome Trim (bumper chrome, headlight & taillight rings)

Holy poop that's some spec you got there!

How do you find it drivability wise with the 300hp? I've got a Jcw with sports auto on fleet at the minute and that can be a little "fighty" sometimes.

Nice chassis mods though, you thinking about an LSD next?

With decent tyres it handles the torque well. No more plans for that car really. Green R53 is the toy that wont ever be sold. The F56 is my daily, im currently saving up for my wedding next June, but after that I will probably put back to stock and go something a little bit bigger such as a Mustang GT/Nissan GTR etc, fancy a sporty Coupe. As my commute is now only 5 miles a day, fuel economy isnt a consideration.

pretty cool cars there man I dig the green one!!

I think red would be a little weird with the green car in there. I think I would go something a little more neutral.

I would suggest making use of the long walls in a couple of ways.

Mount 6 - 8" wide shelves about a foot down from the ceiling along both walls. Good place to store paint, motor oil, stuff like that. Making the shelf narrow keeps you from losing things in the back row - you can see everything you've got.

Also build some bench space at chest height near the back of the garage. Maybe 12 - 16" wide, about 6 feet long. Won't get in the way of the car, and gives you another place to stage parts while you're working on a project.

Cool car, and good luck with your garage. Lots can be done in a small space.
