Tweezers at Epsteins

Has anyone tried the Yankee Tweezers from Epsteins, and specifically is anyone able to compare to a set of Knipex? (The latter admittedly being expensive).

I'm considering ordering some of the Yankees, but really like the quality of the Knipexes.

By nice I mean;
-- fine tipped, narrow, crisp edges to make it easy to pull small splinters
-- stiff steel to allow a tight bite on the splinter.

Thanks!

It's been probably 2 or 3 years since I've used tweezers. Something I very infrequently need.
A decent knife works well.

Do you have a link to the Knipex tweezers that you like? There are a gazillion different ones.

There are a lot of different tip styles for different purposes. For splinters you probably want something in the range of a No. 5 or AA. The fine ones like No. 5 will be very precise but will bend easily. The AA tip style will be more robust.

This model is pretty excellent. I haven't found another manufacturer's who compare.

is the sort I prefer for getting things out that a regular tweezer or needle won't do. It's also what they've used on my when I've had to have the urgent care do it.

Just picked up a set of the Doyle 5” pliers tweezers from HF for like $7 or $8 the other day. Haven’t had a reason to use them yet but the tips look pretty good.

Some of the ones from HJE are SS and some are plated. For your intended use, SS makes sense for hygienic reasons. And you don't want plating shedding and giving you a chrome splinter while you are trying to remove a wood splinter. ;) And you can reshape the tips when there's no plating. You can touch up the tips with a ceramic stone for sharpening knife blades.

These stainless AA should be okay. I would skip the ones that are plated.

I got the TW-59 and TW-160 Tweezers from HJE. For the amount of times I'd use them they'll do rightly. Quality seems very good. Main thing for me is that they are manufactured in USA and not China.

Have you looked at tweezerman tweezers? I have been super happy with the quality of them and they have some nice pointed ones that are great for getting splinters out.
