Twisted my bit

Using the Dewalt 885 w 1/4" drive adapter I twisted the adapter bit loosening the axle pinch bolts on the motorcycle. They were torqued to 17ft lbs. The bit is out if a Dewalt kit. I've had it a while and used it quite a bit. I kept using it to remove the axle nut at 46ft lbs. Guess I need a new one of those.

I thought it felt odd the tool was driving away but the socket wasn't going anywhere.

I thought it looked cool, so I snapped a pic, check it out.

..yah yah...the chrome socket....

I beat on the Makita 1/4 hex to 3/8 square adapters pretty hard at work maybe give them a look. The Dewalt version I have feels cheap.

Is that the gold shank, made in Japan chrome wobble adapter they sell at HD? If so I agree, those kick ***.

I saw on here that Snap-On, or Williams, or both offers these made in USA.

I have several of those too, but don't use them all that often.

These are what I use. I bought a 10pk I think they're made in Taiwan.

Both Zephyr and Apex make pretty good socket adapters.

I have a HF freight one that twisted like that. Another identical one from HF never twisted. I think heat treating and alloy type are not specified by HF.
