Finally after four years in the house I am finally finding the motivation to get the garage into shape. I am ready to get back on my f100 project but have realized the biggest reason I have been avoiding it is the condition of the garage. Hard to find the inspiration when its cold, dark, and disorganized out there. Something must of snapped in my brain over Christmas when I started shoving all my junk into one corner and just started going for it. I started by painting the back wall and ceiling of the garage white to help brighten up the space. I then installed eight of the costco LED shop lights everybody has been taking about. The difference is amazing already!

Couldn't be happier with the lights, looks like an operating room compared to what it used to. Already getting used to it though, need more! Sill need to get up there and straighten up a couple of the lights, easy to get them a little crooked trying to install them by yourself. Once I get the truck moving around again I plan to get up there and patch the holes in the drywall.

For anybody interested in the pickup, I bought it 10 yeas ago on my 16th birthday. Drug it out from behind a barn. Last time it was registered was 1976. It ended up being in amazing shape. Absolutly no rust. My first truck was a 1966 F250 I bought at a yard sale for $400 when I was 15. It ended up being way too far gone to be saved but made a pretty good parts vehicle. Like anything, life get in the way and I haven't made any real progress in it in years. Hoping to change that.

This is her current state. Been dragging my feet on a power disk brake upgrade. Pretty close to finish, only thing really left to do is run the lines. Still got to finish up the new wiring harness.

Progress has been slow, but steady. Machinists and drywall don't really get along. There isn't a stud in that garage hung straight, had to sister in a second 2x4 in a few places to be able to put up a full width sheet. My inner OCD was going nuts, haha.

Here is a couple pics of when I bought my Leblond lathe home. Got it for a song. Basically bought the brand new Baldor 2hp motor and got the lathe and new bison 3 jaw for free. Bought it from a used machinery dealer in Auburn. Think it was one of those things that his usual customer wasn't interested in so he just wanted it to go. The most expensive part was renting the forklift to get it into the garage.

I've been really impressed with the amount of floor space I have now that all the junk has been piled on the other side of the garage. I plan to get a table saw, bandsaw, and build a welding table, but I'm having a hard time coming to terms with giving up the real estate. I've only been working on one side of the garage so far so I'm sure I'll free up a lot of space over there next.

Bad picture, but had a 3 legged visitor. First time I've seen her around. Thought it looked like it was moving funny so I got out the binoculars. Sure enough she's missing a back leg. Seems to get around fine.

A machinist without OCD is usually unemployed. Not to be picky or anything like that but it looks like one of your 4'x8' plywood sheets is hanging a couple of thou off plumb.

Is a mill in your future?
