Greetings:

This is my first post here..... I've been lurking for a LONG time......

Figured it appropriate to post a picture of my garage..... as it looks on any given weekend........

I have to fit all my stuff..... a motorcycle...... and required to fit at least 1 vehicle (per the wife) in at night..........

Here's my space........

Looks functional, you say per wife, so you have more than 1 wife or she has more than 1 car.. :willy_nil

I couldn't handle more than 1 wife.......

Her truck has to be in the garage..... my car gets to live in the driveway......

Hey man,

Welcome. I've been seeing your posts over on WeldingWeb lately. I'm a noob over there. I'm trying to get my garage ready for some welding projects...I've got a bit too much exposed wood right now....should be fixed shortly. Anyways, glad to have you aboard.

What are the dimensions of the garage?

I know you weld -- it might help to have casters on everything, and a place for some of the stuff that isn't in regular use. Like Brett K asks, is there room on the property for a shed?

Aside from that, you could use cabinets/shelves to get some of the clutter up and off the floor. Otherwise, you're always going to have stuff creeping into your useable space from the walls. (It'll keep getting smaller and smaller.) Right now, all of the white parts of the walls are un-utilized space.

The compressor could go outside in a shed by itself, too. It's not doing you any good eating up floor space.

Hi Jack.....

I have casters on everything..... Except the old welding table but I'm building a new one with casters..... And will tear down the old one.....

I also bought some cabinets that helped a lot........

I plan to buy a shed but the lousy HOA is making it difficult.....

I'll probably sell my 1944 welder,....... Something I said I would never do....... Just to get the space back........

Lawn mower wil Go in the back porch soon I think........

I have a tool obsession though.......... Big tools...... Takes up space.........

I should just lease some space in town.......... 100,000 square feet should be enough....... :)

Oh and the deminsions are 20X24....... With 3x20 not useable because of the attic door and back door configuration....... And water softener.......

Howdy Fexal. I watch your stuff at WW as well - good work :)

I think you can definitely make your space usable for work and a single vehicle at night. It was the requirement for my garage when I got started and I'm working with ~19x23 space and 8' ceiling.

The key for storage, use the unused space - like at the tops of walls, along ceilings. Consider soffit storage. Stay organized and make sure everything has a place and you'll be good.

Looking forward to seeing how you go.
