I've had a busy time since Friday.
These are the before shots of the bump out, and while I'd love to have had time, I didn't get any progress shots.
Disassembling 75mm x 75mm x 5mm frame with a 5" grinder and a sledgehammer was noisy, and made me feel like I was in a chaingang.
I'll post some more pictures of the progress that Andyaus and several of my other closest friends achieved over the past three days.
New thread will begin with the new rental.

That's what I would call " potential", you do not realise just how much you accumulate until you have to shift it. Best of luck with your sorting out and keep us posted.

Nice work mate with a rental. So have you bought now? I made the move to buy in 2007, never looked back. So much more freedom, no worrying about being given notice, get to do what you want with the place. No downsides as far as I'm concerned.
I've been in the process of moving from Sydney 2 hours north to the Hunter (where I grew up). Been living with family with everything in storage, but get the keys to our new place at the end of the month. I can't wait!

Alright, it's been a little while since I've done any updates. With all this hot weather, my job has been busy and progress on the garage has been slow.
The living room has been furnished entirely with eBay. The most expensive thing so far has been the lounge suite. The collection of vintage beer cans was assembled by my grandfather and the earliest cans date back to the 1940s.
For the first time in quite a few years I have set up a functioning music work station, which while still needing cables and a few more bits and bobs, is a very satisfying thing to have.
Anyway, that's not the garage...
I purchased about 15 litres of ceiling white to make everything a bit lighter and brighter in and around the workshop. I also removed one of the heating ducts to give me a little more headroom, which also had the surprise benefit of providing proper ventilation through the house for the evaporative cooling system, and allowed cool air to come all the way to the garage.
The list of things to do looks like this:
1). Adapt shelves and build a shadow board into the tool room. I have a few pretty crazy ideas involving a home made compactus arrangement, but I'm not sure that the reward will match the required effort.
2). Build a wooden topped island bench to allow for woodworking and clean work in the tool room.
3). Build a bench or stand for the south bend lathe in the tool room. The idea I have is to make something like a Steevo bench with a tool chest under the tailstock and space below the lathe headstock for the motor and belt assembly.
4). Build an island welding bench 2000mm x 1000mm with a 10mm steel top. This will be tricky too, as that size steel weighs 180kg, and I don't think I have a crane of a sufficient size to unload a sheet that heavy.
I'm tossing up ideas for clamping like:
- Getting 136 holes (100mm grid of holes) laser cut into one sheet that I can tap a large thread into and use milling table clamps for welding.
- Making the welding top out of individual detachable 150mm x 10mm x 1000mm lengths
Anyway, I'll keep this as updated as I can. I hope everyone is well.

Looking good, you've got some nice gear there. Loving the music room too, that's actually another feature of our new house, though nothing is setup yet. Haven't had anywhere to setup for a long time, so I'm very much looking forward to having it all set up again. Are you mostly a guitarist? I note the keyboard too, one of the most fun things every time we move house has been moving my wifes piano (big and old iron framed upright)...
