My first post on the site but I have been lurking for a while now and I must say if I had half of your guys' money..... Haha. There is a lot of inspiration on here, which leads me to my Introduction. The wife and I bought our house a year ago ( 1500sqft ranch on 6 acres) and it is now time to show the garage some love. For my birthday my wife is treating me to a whole race deck floor and a new garage storage system (cabinets and nicer work bench). I plan on installing a TV and a decent sound system to entertain when having people over. I installed two 8ft t-8 fluorescent lights, huge difference from having just two 60watt bulbs. Now on the the pics!

Thanks for posting your garage. Looks like it will be really nice when you get your desired things done in it. From the photos it looks to be in pretty good shape. Just needs your TLC and making the way you want it. Good luck and keep us up to date!

Best Regards

I will keep it up with pictures! The floor should be shipping soon and the storage stuff I pick up tomorrow! My truck doesn't fit in the garage so it leaves one side available for whatever, wife's cobalt gets the other spot.

My wife kinda went nuts on buying storage for the garage and also decided that we needed a new front door too. Im not going to assemble until paint and racedeck are in. will keep it updated!

Thanks guys, going to start sanding and getting ready for paint tonight. I still have to figure our what colors to do. My race deck is going to be black, gray and red free-flow but in a specific pattern. I will take pics the whole way.

Yes, a new one opened 15 minutes from the house and they were offering a extra 11% off on top of the current sale. We bought 2 two door wall cabinets, a work bench, the two floor cabinets that go under the workbench and the tall floor cabinet for $600. Plus the new front door that you see in the pictures was marked down for 250, so we got out of there just shy of a grand and it was all part of my birthday present from the wife.

Seems like you are cooking with gas. I can't believe the deals you guys get down there. All that cabinetry for under a grand? That's preposterous to we Canadians! I'm interested to see what pattern you employ with your red/black/grey RD colour scheme. Sub'd.

Yes Jim I am, its all cracking at the seams. Cadillacking, its too bad you aren't closer I could pick them up for you and drive them across the border at Sarnia. I'm only 15 mins from the bridge. Thanks for all the comments!

Loads of good things going on for you. I am anticipating the finished product. The cabinets should be really cool in the place.

Thanks HS! Dubber, not only do you have me looking at your garage which is great btw, but at a VW too. Maybe when i get the truck paid off, ive always been a sucker for the R32. Oh, she also bought the cabinets too.

Thanks! Considering a dub is definitely a great choice. They have a great line-up including the new R. 2014 will be the launch of the new mk7 GTI as well as the GTD if everything plays out the way its supposed to. I'll try and find a pic of a fellow club member's blue R32 if your interested that attended a car show this past weekend with me.

Yea! Love them, I'm seeing quite a few mixed reviews of the new R, though the looks of it are awesome. Nothing compares to the sound of the VR6 too.

Here you go!

I know a few guys here with the new R and they all love them. I guess a huge difference between the Canadian and American versions is that we can turn the traction control off, making it much more fun to drive.

Agreed! I believe there is a hack for it now though over here. Ill just have to drive both to see which one i like. The CC VR6 isnt a bad option too, though i like all VW's. AWD is a must from having a built SRT-4, tq steer was terrible. It probably wouldnt get driven in the winter though, i do have my truck for that.

I'd love to but have to wait until after the wedding in February to do a major purchase like that. I've started the task of sanding the walls getting ready for paint. The spiders were starting to take over so I had to run them out. All of the joints where the drywall comes together are cracking which isn't making this part fun. Anyone want to pick the colors for the walls? My toolbox is red and the storage is gray but I also don't want to completely copy caddy king lol.

She is a slacker (just kidding), she hasnt ordered my flooring yet but apparently its coming. She just went out and bought a 2013 Edge Sport AWD and that is taking up her time. It will also be taking up one spot in the garage and i have been demoted to the 06 Cobalt for my DD. My Ram will stay at home until winter or pulling the boat.

Well i learned a very important lesson today, do not use Semi-Gloss paint unless your walls are absolutely perfect. Mine were not, so i went back and got the same color in flat and rolled over top of the semi-gloss. It came out perfect and hides all the little spots i was unable to fix. Its starting to come together, just have some trim work to do and i am done with the paint.

Ghostknife,

What paint brand, color and/or number of gray did you use? I am going to paint my garage gray and like the gray you used.

Also, why did you say not to use semi-gloss unless near perfect walls? I was going to use semi-gloss (easy cleaning).

Thanks.

Because the light is reflecting off the walls and the reflections will highlight the imperfections. i have a picture of the top of the can for the gray color. It is Ace's Royal Premium Interior paint in Flat. Racedeck will be here next Friday-Tuesday

Woot Woot, the garage floor came in and not knowing what colors were waiting for me in the boxes i quickly jumped in on it. My wife must have been glued to caddykings garage when she ordered the floor because it looks kinda like the same floor. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, right? It came out great except i installed the floor backwards and didn't notice it until i went to put the edging down. ****! Tore the tiles right down the middle of the garage and pulled it out in two sections and rotated them. I pulled them back inside and re-snapped them together, Success!
