Has anybody used a 4 post to park 2 cars on it perpendicularly? I have seen a photo of some quads up on one but I would like to put a pair of VWs up. I have been trying to find specs of deck widths and it looks like they are around 75 inches wide where the wheelbase on my cars is around 95. Since they are front drive cars that weigh around 2000lbs I know the capacity is not a problem. I would center the front wheels on one side then make some form of extension to center the rears on.

The only problem I can think of would be having 70-80 percent of the weight on one side but then again on a 9000 lb lift with a big truck on it you could argue there would be nearly as much put on the front two posts opposed to the sides. Lets say I have 5000 lbs worth up there, worst case would be 4000lbs on one side. A 2008 F-250 Diesel 4x4 Super Cab Truck will weigh around 5,752 lbs with no add ons.

IF you bought a heavy duty lift... and I don't mean the "deal of the day"... you MIGHT get away with it. But I sure as heck wouldn't trust your run of the mill discount lift.

It would be better if one car was aimed each way... personally I think you're asking for trouble.

I don't see it as an issue as long as you stay withing the limits of the lift and the wheel base will allow the vehicles to rest comfortably on the runs and not have to be modified.
Every vehicles weight transfer will be different. When I lift different vehicles the locks engage at different times due to the weight transfer. I am not going to adjust it everytime I put a different vehicle on it.

Maybe two smart cars on a parking lift. Otherwise, I agree that you're probably asking for trouble!
