Two compressor questions - loud noise and when to lubricate

Please be gentle with me.
I bought a lightly used 80 gallon Speedaire compressor about 4 years ago. I got a great deal on it because it was not a single phase 5 hp motor, but I swapped the motor out with a single phase 5 HP Balder motor I bought off eBay. Motor looked like brand new and I believe it was a "take off." My car project was put on the back burner so the compressor was used intermittently but not a whole lot. I changed the oil twice since I've had it even though there is probable only a few hours on it since I bought it.

Question 1: Twice in the last couple of weeks, when the motor started up after using it on/off for a few hours, it suddenly made a lot of noise on startup. Not the usual chugging noise it's supposed to make. The first time I was wearing hearing protection and by the time I got them off, the breaker had tripped. The second time (weeks later) I was near it. It didn't sound like a "screech" or anything, but not the normal noise. Louder for sure and a bit higher pitched. It still seemed to be pump air. I immediately killed the power for for about 3 seconds, turned it on again - same noise. Killed the power for three more seconds, turned it on and now it sounds normal again and had cycled 3-4 more times without reproducing the noise. I honestly can't tell if it's coming from the tank, motor, pump, fan cage etc. Otherwise it's run fine. No knock, clanging or other noises. any ideas?

Question 2: The above got me thinking about lubricating the motor. The small compressors I've had in the past I never really lubricated the motor, nor do I remember if there were fittings to do so. This Balder motor has a grease fitting at each end. Not knowing any better I gave it a shot of grease when I first got it although I assume it's lubricated from the factory. How and when do you lubricate the electric motor? What specific grease do you use?

Thanks.

l,
Not having a picture of your compressor, and not being able to hear the noise, I may be wasting my time typing this. Do you know what type of valves it has in the cylinder head (s) ?? If it has reed valves one of them might be sticking. My 40 year old Craftsman one does it every once in a while. One of the valves sticks and does not seal properly when you turn it on after not using it for a while. It usually decides to seal up after running a few minutes so I don't worry about it.

That's the only thing I can think of. How about a picture or a model number ??

I cant tell for sure by your picture but it looks like a 2 stage pump ? Does the noise sound like it is coming from the pump, maybe the air inlet ? If so it might be a valve sticking.

Might have an unloader also which could be sticking and making a noise ? That would explain the breaker tripping.

Really hard to diagnose / guess at a noise without hearing it.

Yeah, it's a 2 stage. I understand it's hard to diagnose by my description. Just thought that maybe the scenario would ring a bell with someone who had a similar problem. Thanks for your thoughts. Do you have any thoughts on greasing a motor like this? Thanks

Our shop compressor is 30+ years old. It's been several years since it's had an oil change...oil looks fine fwiw. We had a short in the windings last year, first time the motor had been touched is a decade.
This is a 5hp 240v into a large dual stage on a 100+ gal tank. It has power from 7:30 am to 6-7 pm m-f and slightly fewer hours on weekend days.

Last tome it made any unusual noise it was the belts. One has stretched and the raining strain on the other caused it to twist and slip.
