Two conduit questions

I’m just about to finish putting in some 2 inch conduit in a 24” trench for my solar array. This will run about 150 to 200 feet from the arrays to a shipping container where I’ve got my charge control, controllers, inverters, batteries, etc.

The shipping container sits on blocks. Out here there’s a lot of clay and differential soil movement is an issue. For example, I had to put a flexible connection between my cabin and my septic tank so the movement wouldn’t break the line.

I’ve got 2 1/2 inch electrical conduit. And I could put the 2 inch inside the 2 1/2 to form a slip joint close to the shipping container. It seems like a good idea, but I thought it’s best to check before I glue this stuff up.

The other question was, as I’ve been laying on my belly glueing up these sticks of PVC dirt falls into the trench. And some gets into the pipe. I’ve got an opportunity to hose the whole thing out from one end before I finish all the connections and cover it up. This also seems like a good idea. Any issues with that?

Thanks

You want to make sure the entire run is continuous. Just use a section of liquidtite flexible conduit, other wise bugs, moisture and god only knows what else will get into it. Take a vacuum, **** a string through it and pull a rag or ? to clear it out.

Lay the sticks next to the trench and glue them up. Then throw the run in the trench after the glue hardens.

When I ran the conduit to my barn, I too was concerned over dirt and muck getting in the conduits.

I placed t-stake posts across the trench. I then worked the conduit on top of the t-posts gluing several 20’ sticks at a time.

Once the glue set up, I removed the stakes one by one to lower the conduit into position.

Wife’s garden has 50-75 t-stakes that I borrowed.
