Alright, I've been busting my **** all evening trying to cut up a couple mature oaks I had dropped, and I searched for a couple minutes before I figured I would ask for expert help.

I want to put another double gang box directly below or directly next to my existing double gang steel box (for more receps.)

What connects the two so they are close? I figured there would be something short like a double conduit nut thinga-ma-bob but I didn't see anything at HD.

Box spacer, as you correctly said above:

I bought a bunch of 3/4" ones at HD when I ran my ceiling fixtures end-to-end.

Box spacers are great - for a fixed space. Pipe ******* where different spacing is needed, and somewhat adjustable. ;)

You can get gangable boxes, and just make something bigger. Then get plates that come in pieces, and put something together to make as wide a cover as you want.

Or use a chase ****** to connect them.

Ah "chase ******" - I used to do that a lot in college.

You guys are great. Thanks. Lots of options. I want me some of them nice box spacers in 1/2" though!
