NAPA 791-6420 $209.99

Harbor Freight Daytona $199.99

Plan B is to buy a new floor jack if I can't get my old one to work. I can't really afford it, but I can't afford not having a jack either. I'm thinking the NAPA jack may be easier to get seal kits for down the road.

Napa jack without question. My Dads is 12 or more years old, Mine's at least 7 years old. Never a problem with either.

Neither has been used in a pro shop, but they have seen a lot of use. IMO, they are the best deal going for a floor jack.

Use a 20% off coupon on the Daytona.

Unfortunately jacks are one of the items that are excluded from the 20% off coupons. :(

With a bit of looking around you can find a coupon for the Daytona jack for $179.99.

I haven't used the Napa jack but recently picked up the Daytona jack, it's really nice. I'm just a home user but loving it so far. Works a lot faster, smoother, and easier than my well loved Arcan did (or the Craftsman I had before that.) Love that it's easier to fit under my lowered track car and also jacks my wife's SUV was up higher than my old jack.

For normal home use I would get the Daytona, double pumper and lifts higher and is better shaped for newer cars.

I use a 3 1/2 ton jack like the Napa, but its a double pumper design. For lower vehicles it doesn't matter much but for tall vehicles the double pumper is nice to get the saddle to height

You gave up on removing that tank nut?

I got the tank nut removed and the jack put back together with new seals, but it's still not pumping up. The main problem is that I can't find a parts drawing that's an exact match. I can only find drawings that are similar.

For car work, the benefit of the lower profile + the longer lift range and higher total height capacity of the Yellow jack would outweigh the extra 1/2 ton capacity of the Blue jack. They weigh 104# and 112#, so neither is a wimpy weight-wise.

There are other HF floor jacks that sell for a lower price. Time flies; so it might be pushing 15 years back that I bought My younger Boy one of their orange three ton floor jacks.. It is still in good working order.. Sorry for straying a bit off topic; But unless that lower profile is a must have; I would look them over.

I am just a DIYer, but my 3 ton $79 Michelin jack from Sams club is still going strong after 10 years. I also have 2 of the 1.5 ton aluminum HF jacks and they are great. Had them for years and they are really light so I reach for them first if they will lift enough and high enough. I take one to the track when I go along with my Milwaukee impact. Were I to buy another jack it would probably be the HF or Arcan or similar 2 ton low profile ong reach steel rapid pump that go for $140-$280.

I take it the drawing on hcrcnow.com is not exact? It would be a shame to give up now - you've already invested time in this and money in the seal kit. I'd say, take it apart and post some pictures here of what you've got. It's possible that one of the check balls from either the release, working valve, or overload went missing.

I vote for the Daytona. I've had an HF 2.5 ton low profile for about 5 -6yrs and use it on 4 cars, 3 boat trailers and a lawn tractor at home. Never flinched once. My car mechanic has a 7 bay service garage at his business and I've been seeing HF jacks around the shop several years now. I doubt he would buy them if they didn't perform.

Yes, I was working off the Central Hydraulics 4170 drawing; it's close but not exact. The Hein-Werner 68040 is actually a closer match, but the jack is a Harbor Freight jack. That tells me whoever put the jack into production, skipped all the research and development phases and just copied the parts from the Hein-Werner 68040. They must've saved quite a bit of money doing that.

It's one of those tools I didn't want to buy right now. The 90 day warranty for the regular Pittsburgh jack is not going to work either.

Well, This Man knows jacks!

Just so we are clear... I wasn't happy about the decision, but the 3 year warranty, verified pump seals used and newer twin pump/quick lift versus the single on the Napa swayed my opinion. I'm still not a fan of the cartridge valve system, the Crumbling tank nut from one disassembly and pump piston guide tolerances doesn't instill a lot of confidence in the Quality department.

used a napa jack (not sure if it was the same one pictured) with a cartridge style valves......thing sucked! it only took 1 or 2 pumps to get to height.....unloaded. when you had weight on it, it took close to 15-20 pumps to get it to a decent working height.

I don't own either one however, if I was in the market for one and I am comparing the 2 the specs on the HF Daytona outshine the Napa. Just my opinion!

If availability of repair parts are important, the NAPA 791-6420 has parts available. This is a jack manufactured/imported by Sunex.

The Napa jacks are imported by Balkamp/ Napa Lifting Equipment and have a 2 year warranty.

The Sunex 3 1/2 ton jack is a double pumper design and has a 1 year warranty. That type of jack is sold by Matco, American Forge, Sunex, Strong Arm. I have a Strong Arm, came with a 1 year warranty but have had it for about 10 years. No problems. Parts and service are avalable everywhere for the Napa and Sunex type

For lifting trucks and equipment I would buy either the Norco or the Sunex type 3 1/2 ton jack. For home use the Daytona

Id like to get one of the Daytona jacks, but just cant spend the money right now.
really don't need it either, but you know how that goes.
My old HW I got 2nd hand with the 2, I assume HW stands, (same paint) for $60.00 is still working perfect.
I hate to say it too, But I really don't feel like doing too much in the garage or wood shop right now anyways.
I am trying to move if I can find a suitable place and can afford it too.

I didn't want to spend the money either, but I can't afford to hire mechanics.

If you don't want to spend $200 right now, I'd go with the "3 ton Low Profile Steel Heavy Duty Floor Jack with Rapid Pump" for $89.99 this weekend. Been using mine for Bout 3 years now and it's been solid. If it takes a dump in the next few years I won't hesitate to pick up another one.

Don't consider it how much it cost you but reflect how much it saves you every time you do your own maintenance work ,
You could of probably grabbed something 100bucks cheaper but min and max heights on the daytona make it nice use on all sorts of applications plus seals seem decent and last well and don't creep .
It also look pretty so nice ornamental piece in you front room lol sit a plant pot on the saddle and use handle as coat hanger :) .

I bought one of the Daytona jacks a year or so ago when it was on sale for, like $179 or $169. I had a couple gift cards from Christmas, so I only had to fork out about $70 of cash.
I love it, it's an awesome jack. I've used it a couple dozen times and have no issues with it lifting my fullsize truck.

I ended up getting the Yellow Jacket from Northern Tool, basically same as HF Daytona, but I paid $169 and they gave me the $20 off $100 too... So far I love it!

Amen.

If you're not married to the Daytona, check out HF's 3 ton low profile. I got it for 78.88 in late summer 2015 and it's been outstanding. I have a 93 Dakota and the low profile still gets it in the air just fine to remove a wheel.

I saw those and wondered if they were sourced from the same supplier. A few bucks less than HF is selling them for.
