Hello,
Two questions about a Morgan vise I have been restoring.
It was missing a lot of parts, when I saved the vise it had nothing retaining the collar to the spindle. See the first attached photo. It is a blind hole and is not tapped. I modified a roll pin to fit the hole and it would work except for it will only clear the sides of the cavity if it is cut so short I am not sure how I would get it dissassembled if need be. I suppose I could drill it out, or I could tap it and use a set screw, anybody know the "right" way?
Second question, see the second attachment. Is it normal for the nut pin to sit at an angle? Not a functional issue just a curiosity. Originally it was a pin, but I was planning on replacing it with a roll pin.
