Just picked these up for free. Grabbed them mostly because I thought they had some value. I don't think I would use them much.

Can anyone tell me more about them? What they may be worth, should I actually keep them? Anyone want to buy them?

The plate on the grinder is almost unreadable, but I didn't want to ruin it so I only wiped off what I could without damaging it.

Hi first let me say you **** (in a good way); if I were in your shoes I would keep that rockwell belt sander because you can sharpen so many tools that you will become a pro in short order. As a matter of fact your neighbors will come to your door at all hours of the night 24/7 asking you to sharpen their drill bits, lawn mower blades, chisels, etc. and you can make some money on the side.

Now as to the other motor it looks like an old electric motor that someone converted into a grinder, without a platform it makes it hard to sharpen tools. On the other hand you can bolt it to a table and buy a wire wheel or cotton wheel and use it to take off rust or clean any tools in your shop, or use the motor to run a belt that will power a small machine.

For free, you did good.

The belt sander is a little 1"x42" delta rockwell unit. Nice little unit, but nothing special or high dollar. They are good for sharpening things, but lack power for any serious material removal. Looks like someone converted it to direct drive from belt drive.

The grinder, is a homemade stone on motor type of deal. No real value past the motor if it runs good.

If I was at a garage sale or craigslist, I would expect to get both for ~$30 tops.

Should you keep them? I don't know, what kind of work do you do? What sort of tools do you have now?

Yea, neither one is worth all that much. The belt sander would be handy if you don't have one. As woody mentioned, the other one is just a motor with a grinding stone on it. I'd probably just put a wire wheel or buffing wheel on it or use it to power something else.

I did not have either of those types of tools before Sunday.

I have a couple snow blowers, lawn tractor blades and may drill bits so I am sure I could use the 1x42 for that. The other motor I didn't know about but now that I know its a rigged tool, I will try to build a skate sharpener out of it.

With skate sharpening being between $5-$9 per pair now, I know I could make some good money doing that for the neighborhood kids and my teams.

I'll probably clean up the Rockwell and use it, it if isn't my thing I will sell it. I've seen them go for about $125-250 cleaned up.

Those 1" belt sanders are a very handy thing to have around. I would keep it.

The motor with stone isn't worth much. I would be wary of spinning that stone since you don't know if it has been hit and cracked. Junk the stone and put a buffing wheel on it and use it to shine stuff up.
