I am shopping for a 2 post lift and have narrowed the search to a 9000 lbs base plate lift. The problem is that some of the vendors call for 3" thick concrete and some call for 4" concrete at 3000 psi. I have 3" at 3500 psi according to the contractor who poured it and there is steel rebar in it as well. Further clouding the installation is that they want the holes to be drilled no closer than 6" from a seam or edge. My slabs are 11 feet wide with the inside of the garage being 22 feet wide. The center seam is not really a seam, it has been grooved to provide a stress relief in case it cracks. So if the outside dimension of the lift is 136 inches wide that means I will have to "offset" the lift over the centerline which screws up the space in the other bay. Has anyone else encounter this and what did you do? It looks like I will have to start looking at the portable mid rise lifts again.....or MaxJac where I could remove one of the posts.
