Two post lift on sale at NT

Anyone have any experience with this lift:

It's on sale right now for $1,400 which seems pretty good for a two post lift. I am only looking for something that would get used maybe a couple dozen times a year mostly for sports cars. The heaviest thing I would put on it is my 2WD Dakota for tire rotations and the like...

I realize that it's a cheap one made in China, but I'm also on a budget. I'm looking for some objective input from anyone who may have experience with this model... Usage is for an occasional weekend warrior car guy.

Also, regarding a two post lift in general (versus a scissor mid rise) - are they reasonable to park between? Or would the car door swinging into a post be a constant fear?

Thats not a bad price my work just got a used bendpack here in canada for $1000 i use it about once a week some times 2-3 times. that one should work fine for you inless you use it meany times a day for a hobby guy i dont see why it wouldent be fine.3 ton is more then most people need for the most part

When we bought a lift, we shopped around and got the Made in America speech... Think what you will about that, but they had a good point about parts availability and support. Im not sure what kind of after sales support there is with Northern Tool, but consider looking at somewhere like Greg Smith Equipment who sell Chinese lifts, but appears to have the support past the sale. We ended up buying a used Nussbaum and what they say about German car parts holds true for German lift parts!

Just something to think about.

the northern tools shipping to my address freight was $467..

Greg Smith equipment has Bendpak Master Series XL-9BP for $1495 plus shipping
So you can get a name brand 9K lift for the same price as the NT 6k lift

If you have a Northern Tool near you, you can have merchandise delivered to the store for pick-up and avoid the shipping charges.

All good points... Northern Tool is too far to pick up, but Greg Smith I could do. I would really like to find a true made in USA model for around $1,500. Not because I think that Chinese stuff is bad, but just to support our own economy.

FWIW, I recently purchased a gas log set from NT and the knob was broken and un-repairable when received. I called them up three weeks later and within about 30 seconds a replacement was on its way and return postage taken care of. I was impressed to say the least at their customer service for this particular transaction.
