I'm in the market for a two post lift for my home shop. I've looked at Bend-Pak and Direct Lift. What lift do you have and what do you recommend? Thanks

I have an Atlas 9KOH and I'm very happy with it.

Same here, installed it with help from friends in Oct '13. Love it.

Purchased from Greg Smith Equipment, and since it requires a fork-lift or other heavy equipment to off-load from a freight truck, I made an arrangement with my local rental store. They received it for me from the truck (since they have forklifts), then placed it on a rental trailer for me to take to my house, where I unloaded it from the trailer with my engine hoist.

I put a Mohawk in my shop...I was set on a challenger lift, but was impressed with their reputation I found by doing some research and the sales rep. Love my lift, it's a beast, and no cables to deal with. Pricey compared to others though.

Another with a Mohawk - Loving it very much. The big selling point for me was the capability to use it like a 4 post with the optional wheel lift adapters. (Being able to store the vehicle for long periods without unloading the suspension)

mohawks are nice, but my first choice if money wasnt a concern would be a Rotary with shockwave, a friend of mine has them in his shop and they are awesome, they lift so fast and smooth, they drop even smoother, very stable, easy to setup, quiet, just the perfect lift. He has cameras on the legs with a screen on the post, you can see right where your pickup points are with out bending over!!!

I know guys like us normally say "ehh' I dont mind getting down there to set the arms", and "who cares how fast it lifts and drops Im not in a hurry", and "its a garage, not supposed to be quiet" But I will tell ya, standing their holding the button waiting for the lift to go up, then holding the release and the down lever waiting for m chevelle to drop after I just put the starter on a 780hp big block and can't wait to hear it rumble, or when my son is lifting a car and I am sitting at my desk trying to hear a youtube video on how to time a dohc v8 and have to hold the laptop to my ear to hear it over the lift, or when I am laying on the ground with my head on the cement trying to get the pads right under a corvettes framing that is 2.5" off the ground, lol I say to myself, MAN I WISH I DIDNT HAVE TO Do THIS... Problem was not the cost with me, but the space, I was not wide enough to fit the rotary, the forward barely made it...

NOW, since cost is normally an issue for the shadetree/hobbyist I prefer the forward dp10a , mine was under $3K installed, never skips a beat. http://www.forwardlift.com/Car-Lifts/2-Post-Lifts/DP10A-Two-Post-Lift/

I really like this lift too, My father has an atlas, he has the wide and tall one, I will never buy one, I think he got his for about $2000 installed, I dont like it at all, lifting a f350 with utility box on his is scary, on mine it safe and feels safe, while his is rated for more weight, I hear noises and creeks, with mine it just goes up... Plus he is on his second pump, the first one lasted about 2 years and he was OK with that, I would have been pissed. His exact words were "its a $2000 lift, what do you expect", for another $1000 get a forward or a bendpak (I compared the bp and forward side by side setup in the showroom, forward is nicer, btw, easier to use, a bit faster, quieter, looks to be made about the same although the paint on the forward was nicer...

Another one to look at is the whip lifts... they are a bit more than a forward but what swayed me was parts support in my area at the time, they are USA made, so that was worth the extra few bucks to me, BUT at the time there was no dealers around here, now we have one and I see the lifts, they are nice. You are in texas and I belive they are made there, so for me it would be a no brainer, whip if you have it in the budget...

So my picks are rotary with shockwave or a whip all-symetric, and if money or space is an issue, forward dp10a which is what I have and like it a lot...

Good luck, once you have a lift, you will not know what you did with out it, nor be able to live with out it, lol...
